SWAC

While developing the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa, Pacific Beachcomber conceived, developed, and installed the first private air-conditioning system using deep-sea water, called SWAC (Sea Water Air Conditioning).

How It Works

In principle, the system is simple. A pipeline is installed in seawater at a depth at which the water is ice-cold year-round. This water is then distributed through the air-conditioning system by means of an exchanger.

Our first SWAC installation was a spectacular success, demonstrating that it is possible to air condition a luxury hotel at a very competitive cost and without the use of fossil fuels or CO2 emissions. Based on this success, Pacific Beachcomber is excited to implement the same SWAC system at its newest development project on Tetiaroa. For more information, please view our SWAC Video.

An Innovative Deep Ocean Spa

Managed by Algotherm, Deep Ocean Spa is the first Thalasso institute in the South Pacific. Using Bora Bora’s deep-sea water, it provides signature treatments, such as Bora Bora Deep Blue massage and Algospa, freezing deep-sea water bath, Jacuzzi, phlebology treatments, hammam (Turkish bath), sauna, and beauty treatments.
